In the United States, Hispanic/Latinx households with young children have experienced a disproportionately high rate of food insecurity. While the existing literature showcases a connection between food insecurity and negative health effects in young children, surprisingly little research has examined the social factors and contributing risks of food insecurity within Hispanic/Latinx households raising children under three, a group particularly susceptible to these issues. This narrative review, utilizing the Socio-Ecological Model (SEM), examined elements linked to food insecurity in Hispanic/Latinx households with young children. PubMed and four extra search platforms were employed in the literature search process. Articles published in English, spanning from November 1996 to May 2022, formed the basis of inclusion criteria, specifically examining food insecurity among Hispanic/Latinx households with young children under three years old. The research excluded articles either conducted outside the United States or those focusing on refugees and temporary migrant workers. The 27 selected articles provided the necessary data (including objectives, settings, populations, study designs, food insecurity measures, and results). Each article's evidence was also scrutinized for its strength.
